Best Practice Visits (IME)
Manufacturers in the West Midlands are being given the opportunity to look and learn by taking a close-up and in-depth view of some of the region’s top manufacturers.
The chance comes in a series of Best Practice Manufacturing Visits, provided by the Manufacturing Advisory Service West Midlands (MAS-WM) and delivered by the Inside Manufacturing Enterprise (IME) programme from Coventry University Enterprises.
Hosts range from small to medium enterprises (SME’s) to global market leaders, each with best practice to share in a number of areas relevant to other manufacturers. Our hosts represent a wide range of sectors and include Yamazaki Mazak Europe, Unipart Eberspaecher Exhaust Systems Ltd, Renishaw PLC, KMF (Precision Sheet Metal), Minivator, part of Handicare, ZF Lemforder and Precision Micro Ltd.
Structured Best Practice visits
These visits to host companies give an insight into how they have implemented innovative management schemes, met specific regional challenges and developed processes to give them a competitive advantage. Each visit includes in-depth presentations on specific topic areas, an accompanies site tour and questions and answer sessions with key personnel who have implemented the changes.
Topics areas include:
Continuous improvement & training, environmental issues, problem solving, effective communication, change management, new product introduction, team working, lean, manufacturing strategy in the UK and aboard, visual management, cellular manufacturing, process capability, supply chain management and many more.
Technology showcase visits
These visits offer the opportunity to see how new technology is assisting West Midlands companies as well as speaking directly to the technology experts who have implemented the systems tailored to the companies needs. These take place in research organisations or on customer premises and offer a unique opportunity to see technology in action.
Topics areas include On-machine verification, Effective reverse engineering, Rapid prototyping, Materials testing and Automation robotics.
Booking
Our visits are currently offered free of charge to West Midlands based companies to support their development. Due to the popularity of our visits we are currently limiting places to one delegate per company. An extra place can be requested below and details will be placed on a waiting list.
