David Wright, Chief Executive

 

David WrightDavid joined MAS-WM from the Morgan Motor Company where he was head of operations. Having graduated from Aston University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, David spent 8 years at Land Rover in Solihull working in Quality, Vehicle Development and Manufacturing Engineering, where he was involved in robotics and automation, structural adhesives and laser processes. Since then David has worked in senior positions for major first-tier automotive component manufacturers. This was followed by a period in management consultancy, focusing on best practice in manufacturing businesses, prior to joining Morgan.

Lali Liddar FCCA, Finance Director

 

Lali LiddarLali is a chartered accountant who has held senior financial and management roles within the computing, construction and public sectors for many years. His financial responsibility extends to all projects operated through the organisation and in addition to his finance role he is responsible for the human resources, information technology and legal functions within the MAS-WM as well as being its Company Secretary. He is currently undertaking a post graduate MSc in Corporate Direction through Wolverhampton University.

 

Manufacturing Advisors

Unlike many advisory bodies, we aim to have you speaking to someone with a sound knowledge of manufacturing as quickly as possible. Trevor JeavonsTrevor joined MAS-WM following a successful 30-year career in operations management to board level. Trevor has extensive operating knowledge at the strategic level with responsibility for day-to-day plant operation, implementing process improvement and change management culture in large multi-national and SME companies. A manufacturing specialist working in a number of market sectors including project management of major infrastructure / industrial projects and manufacture of machine tool, aerospace, automotive components - commodity products for the construction market.

Paul Killeen, Manufacturing Advisor

 

Paul KilleenPaul is a qualified Mechanical/Electrical Engineer, who completed a technical apprenticeship with GKN. Paul brings over 30 years industry experience to MAS-WM. His experience has been obtained through a wide ranging background that includes: Design, R & D, Product Development, Procurement, Production, Computer Aided Manufacturing systems and Workforce training & development. Paul has also worked across several industries that include: Automotive, Aerospace, Machine tools, Motor sport, Medical & Scientific Equipment and Education.

Iain Robertson, Specialist Manufacturing Advisor - Team Leader

 

Iain Robertson

Iain has 25 years experience of automotive and white goods industries. At operational and board levels his career encompasses engineering, product and process development and quality roles. Trained in Japan, Iain brought Total Quality Management and lean manufacturing techniques to UK companies, and supported their staff as they introduced continuous improvement methods. His technical roles include developing and installing new technologies, including robotics, lasers and computing systems.

 

Chris Butlin, Specialist Manufacturing Advisor

 

Chris Butlin

Chris is an experienced performance improvement specialist with a long track record both within manufacturing to board level and in consultancy. Chris received extensive training in Japan in the theory and application of World Class Manufacturing and has returned there on several occasions to both update his knowledge and to escort clients on study visits. Chris has successfully applied lean manufacturing techniques including waste reduction/elimination, visual controls, cellular manufacturing, kanban and changeover reduction across many manufacturing sectors in both the UK and abroad.

Tony Greenway

Tony is a fully qualified technician who progressed from shop floor to board room over a period of 30 years in manufacturing. Tony has a wide ranging background in process, production and industrial engineering techniques across a variety of processes including foundry, tooling, fasteners, ceramics, cold resin and special finishes. His industry experience includes automotive, domestic and industrial components, retail and switchgear. Tony is fully conversant with the practical application of modern manufacturing techniques tailored to add value to specific businesses.

John Kelly, Specialist Manufacturing Advisor

 

John Kelly

John is a manufacturing professional with over 30 years experience encompassing responsibility for engineering, development, sales & marketing, logistics and production to senior management level. John has experience across a range of different industries and sectors including a significant experience of the plastics processing sector - covering a variety of polymer processes and types. John has also worked in the metal processing and finishing sector. John has extensive practical experience of process improvement including the achievement of World Class status for manufacturing companies.

Peter Roach, Specialist Manufacturing Advisor

 

Peter Roach

Peter is a qualified engineer with a wide range of experience in engineering and business management across a range of aerospace electronics and high volume manufacturing sectors. His engineering experience spans a wide range of roles including design, quality, process improvement and production. Peter has worked as a systems engineer involved with cellular and automated manufacture and test, time compression, production control and data capture IT systems. His commercial experience extends to senior management level and international sales. Peter has a knowledge of IPR, compliance, technology transfer and environmental issues. Prior to engagement with MAS operated as an Innovation and Technology councillor for SME's across the West Midlands.

Mohammad Sarwar, Specialist Manufacturing Advisor

 

Mohammad Sarwar

Mohammad has over ten years experience gained in a high volume automotive World Class manufacturing environment. He has specialist training undertaken in Japan on lean processes for the manufacture of heat exchangers for high volume production. Other experience of automated processes includes Nocolok/vacuum brazing, assembly, handling, testing and surface finishing. He has managed production and machinery engineering departments for new product introduction, productivity improvement, tooling design and process innovation.

Cliff Johnson, Specialist Manufacturing Advisor

Cliff is a qualified engineer with over 25 years experience in the Aerospace, sub-contract and general Engineering sectors. Graduating from Wolverhampton in 1975 and following the completion of a graduate apprenticeship with Lucas Industries, he went on to hold Senior Manufacturing Engineering positions within the Aerospace sector and Production Director positions within Aerospace and General Engineering sectors. Over this time cliff has had responsibility for Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Systems, Manufacturing Development and Supply Chain Development. He has managed new product introduction and change programmes within manufacturing and the Supply Chain, both domestically and internationally, and has many years of experience of concurrent engineering processes

Peter Jones, Specialist Manufacturing Advisor

 

Peter Jones

Peter is a manufacturing professional with business administration qualifications gained over 30 years in Midlands manufacturing. From indentured apprentice to Manufacturing Director his knowledge has been acquired in physical security and hardware, pressure vessels, aluminium/ steel fabrication, steelwork and M&E offsite manufacture for large construction projects. He has supplied products worldwide and spent time working in the USA. In his time he has been responsible for production, procurement, logistics, warehousing and site installation. Peter has introduced modern manufacturing techniques, supply chain partnering, process improvements and ERP systems in WM manufacturers for operational benefit.

Martin McKeever, Specialist Manufacturing Advisor

 

Martin McKeever

Martin is a qualified Metallurgist with over 30 years experience working in the metal forming industry and automotive and rail industries. Working for LDV Vans as Metallurgist supporting their press working operations he worked closely with major metal suppliers on the material specifications for the Land Rover and LDV vehicles. As a subcontractor to the Virgin Tilting Train project he has worked with 3D design software developing steel fabricated components for the train undercarriage. He also has a keen interest in Rapid Prototyping technologies and gained a Masters in Industrial Logistics studying business re-engineering processes including methods to achieve world-class standards.

Stewart Donnelly

Stewart is a qualified Production Engineer and graduate in Economics. He has over 25 years experience in manufacturing operations to senior managerial level. Stewart has worked extensively in the tyre industry and was Manufacturing Manager in a rubber & plastics extrusion and moulding operation. He has experience of cultural change and process improvements within 1st tier automotive and SME's.

Experienced Process and Lean manufacturing specialist 35 years industry experience within Aerospace, Automotive, and Architectural Hardware environments. Worked on collaborative design and manufacturing ventures with International partners. Comprehensively trained by US Company in implementing Lean manufacturing techniques and processes, used successfully in changing both the profitability and operational capabilities of a number of UK companies. Additionally skilled in process development including new processes, design for manufacture, new product development and introduction Worked on creating then implementing manufacturing strategies and supplier development improvements

 

 

Rodger Cooper, Specialist Manufacturing Advisor

Rodger has time served as an indentured engineering technical apprentice and 47 years experience in manufacturing, 33 years as a company director and 25 years as a Managing Director, he also has experience as a Non-Executive Director, Interim Manager, and Management Consultant. He has wide experience in PLC and private companies from 15 employees to 450 employees. His key skills are as a business improver having delivered

increased profitability and improvements in strategic planning and step changing the business.  He has gained industry experience in Automotive, Construction, Capital Plant and extensive experience in Fabrication & Sheet Metal Industries.  A Graduate of the Open University Technology & Business (Micro Economics) Fellow Institute of Directors, Fellow Chartered Institute of Management.  In his former life he also played for Walsall F.C.

 

 

Barry Cooper, Specialist Manufacturing Advisor

 

barryBarry Cooper is currently on secondment from Advantage West Midlands, the Regional Development Agency and has previously worked with the National Industrial Symbiosis Programme engaging with West Midlands automotive and construction companies in reducing their waste and carbon emissions.  Starting his working life as a commercial apprentice he has over the past 37 years gained significant commercial & manufacturing experience across a number of industries including automotive, pharmaceutical, retail and food & drink at both operational and board level during which time he specialized in supply chain management and performance improvement. A former consultant and business advisor he has worked with numerous West Midlands companies and their supply chains introducing and managing change and continuous improvement programmes.

 

 

Peter Arnott, Specialist Manufacturing Advisor

 

Peter ArnottA chartered engineer with 20 years of experience gained in manufacturing within Lucas Industries, both at home and abroad, followed by senior positions in manufacturing and general management, in both the automotive and plastic processing industries. Most recently as a Business Adviser with a manufacturing bias supporting SMEs across Coventry and Warwickshire, particularly those in the automotive sector,  whilst employed at the local Chamber of Commerce.

Bob Reeve

Bob is a qualified chemist who completed a graduate apprenticeship with Lucas Industries before spending a further 10 years in research and development, studying materials - including examination and heat treatment projects. Bob has also worked as a process engineer in automotive battery manufacturing and as a chief methods engineer in a high-pressure die casting foundry. Bob has extensive experience of engineering design as a consultant engineer before moving on to become an Innovation and Technology councillor for SME's. He is now a Specialist Advisor - Aerospace for the Midland Aerospace Recovery Programme.

Ron Adams

Ron is a fully qualified engineer with extensive manufacturing experience gained primarily with major motor vehicle manufacturers. Vehicle manufacturing experience has ranged across high volume car to medium and low volume van and truck build. Senior management functional responsibilities have covered manufacturing and industrial engineering, site services and facilities, maintenance and component parts sourcing. Ron has had a high level of involvement in development of forward product and manufacturing strategies and new business initiatives. He has also assumed full project responsibility for a range of new product and facility introductions and lean manufacturing/ continuous improvement initiatives.

Roy has extensive experience of developing best practice and the implementation and use of advanced manufacturing techniques.

A qualified control systems engineer with design and manufacturing experience of test and measurement equipment for Aerospace, Automotive and Government R&D sectors. Over 25 years in senior sales and marketing positions related to scientific instrumentation for medical research, analytical chemistry and industrial applications. Huw Jenkins

Huw is a marketing professional with over 12 years experience in Brand and Product management. With a background in Automotive Refinish coatings, he has experience in all areas of the business-to-business marketing mix, including new product launch, literature and packaging development, and pricing strategy. A chemistry graduate, Huw also has experience in technical service, commercial operations and sales. A fluent French-speaker, Huw has travelled extensively overseas, spending a number of years as an ex patriot in Northern France.

Cecilia Davies, Specialist Sourcing Advisor

 

Cecillia Davies

Cecilia is a qualified purchasing professional who completed a commercial apprenticeship in the machine tool industry before spending over 20 years in supply chain management predominately in the automotive industry with both OEM and first tier companies. Cecilia joins us from Advantage West Midlands where her role as a Supply Chain Advisor for the rubber and plastics industry included facilitating supply chain development programmes with West Midlands’ suppliers. In addition she has managed major sourcing projects with Inward Investment companies from the Asia -Pacific region, in particular Japan.

Alison Phillips, Specialist Sourcing Advisor

 

Alison PhillipsAlison has over 25 years experience in production management, purchasing and logistics in a variety of industries that include: aerospace, rail, automotive and furniture. Trained in Japan in the Toyota Production System, Alison was the Kaizen Manager for a first tier automotive supplier for 7 years. More recently, she has been responsible for the production and purchasing of a bespoke furniture manufacturer.

Samantha Gregory, Accountant

 

Samantha Gregory

She currently holds the AAT qualification in accountancy and is successfully navigating herself through the final level of her ACCA qualification. Sam joins the team with over 10 years of practical financial and accountancy experience. She started her career in finance at Aston Villa Football Club and has subsequently obtained experience in the building and construction industries.

 

 

 

Tracy Lydiard, Accounts Assistant

 

Tracy currently holds OCR Level 1 Certificate in book-keeping and OCR Level 2 Certificate in Accounting and is studying at the moment towards AAT qualification.  She has previous experience within the retail and hair and beauty industries, more recently being a PA to managing Director of a busy salon.  Alongside this for the past 10 years she has undertaken the book keeping for a small business.   I am looking forward to being part of the team at MAS and to develop my career within the company and to continue my studies.

Leander Thorpe, Administrator / PA

 

Leander Thorpe

Leander is a graduate from Leeds University and has six years experience within the automotive and aerospace industries. Previously working as a Sales Administrator , Leander brings to MAS -WM experience of working for a 2nd tier automotive supplier and a bearings company both in the UK and overseas. Leander looks forward to the challenge of assisting West Midlands manufacturing companies by taking on the role of Personal Assistant/ Administrator to the CEO within MAS -WM.

 

Sandy Johal, Project Administrator

 

SandySandy is a graduate qualified with a BSc (Hons) Computer Networks for Business (Cisco Curriculum). She has over 2 and a half years experience in sales achieving advanced level status within the Arcadia Group. Working for Business Link Staffordshire for 18 months as an Operations Executive, she helped to administer several projects for both for the Service Delivery and Workforce Development Teams.  After leaving Business Link she has temped for a number of organisations in various roles including payroll, marketing, after sales maintenance and finally as a Business Administrative Support Analyst/PA. Sandy has a strong desire to succeed, and is looking forward to develop in a challenging role and use past experience to add value to MAS.

Sally Entwistle, Administrator

 

Sally EntwistleSally Entwistle - Administrator. A fully qualified Administrator, Sally joins MAS-WM with over 20 years experience of several business environments. She started her career in HM Forces (UK/Overseas) and has subsequently gained experience in the Retail, Haulage, Travel, Enterprise & Training sectors. During her previous role as Senior Administrator for a local Management Consultancy, she gained invaluable experience in Training and Advisory services to the Manufacturing Industry. A committed team worker, She will be a real asset to MAS-WM.

Matt Eccles, Marketing & Communications Manager

 

MattMatt rejoins the team at MAS-WM after a three year sabbatical at Staffordshire's Criminal Justice Board and the communications department in the Office for Criminal Justice Reform in Whitehall.  His role is to raise the profile of the services we offer both in the West Midlands and across the UK to engage manufacturers and stakeholders. Matt has 15 years experience in Marketing & PR. In his spare time (and to remind him of home) Matt follows Barnet Football Club, fortunately this arrangement is not reciprocated.

Daniel Piddock, Research & Information Officer

 

Daniel Piddock

Daniel is a Design & Technology graduate from the University of Wolverhampton, and has five years experience working for one of Europe’s largest precious metals manufacturers. After starting his career as an account handler within the bullion sales office, Daniel successfully took over the running of the company’s precious metals refining department. Later, he was recruited into the Manufacturing Improvement Team to help instigate and drive the company’s lean manufacturing initiatives. He specialised in the creation of standard and machine operating procedures, which formed the basis of the company’s new quality system.

Michelle Trew, Marketing Co-ordinator

 

Michelle Trew

Michelle joined MAS-WM with a Business Studies degree where she majored in marketing and graduated from the University of Wolverhampton. Michelle went onto work in the construction industry and progressed in analytical roles, successfully improving business processes at all levels and in all areas of the business. Now working for an organisation dedicated to business improvement, Michelle looks forwards to working with the team at MAS-WM to help encourage sustainable manufacturing in her role as Marketing coordinator.
