Manufacturing Workshops 2008/2009

Facing increased competitive pressures and ongoing supplier cost down exercises, manufacturers throughout the West Midlands are continually being forced to maximise every resource in an attempt to remain a competitive and sustainable entity.

If we tell you that sharing manufacturing best practice could make a difference to your bottom line, would this interest you?

MAS-WM hosts a rolling series of 10 best practice workshops to help make the most of your organisational potential. Delivered by experienced manufacturing practitioners the workshops introduce ‘best practice' methods and techniques and are supported by comprehensive class notes. The workshops are participative and reinforce learning through practical examples. Applying these techniques often leads to substantial business improvements. The workshops are ideally suited to managers, supervisors and owners who are committed to improving their manufacturing performance. Although priority is given to manufacturers who are small to medium in size, larger companies are not excluded.

You have the option of attending a workshop at Stourbridge, Coventry or Cannock. For more information on these venues you can visit their web site by following links above. All start at 9am registration from 8.30am and finish with a buffet lunch at 1pm ( Problem Solving workshop is 9am -3pm).

EnterpriseConsulting present the workshops with industry experienced personnel on behalf of MAS-WM. If you would like more information on the individual workshops you can contact EnterpriseConsulting, contact details are on the Fax back booking form or alternatively you can email Zoe Jones at EnterpriseConsulting.

Marketing Skills Seminars 2008/2009

Challenged by the threat of global competition?

Do you know why your customers buy from you rather than the competition?

How can you establish and maintain a competitive advantage?

Globalisation of markets and supply chains has been a two-edged sword, bringing both threat and opportunity to West Midlands manufacturers.

The threat has manifested itself most heavily on traditional, mass-produced products, where margins have been squeezed by multinationals with their economy of scale advantages, and by offshore competitors enjoying considerable advantages in labour cost.

The opportunity lies in the ready access to fast-growing overseas and domestic markets for the innovative, differentiated new products and processes with which West Midlands manufacturers must compete.

For many West Midlands manufacturers advantages such proximity-to-market and small-player flexibility are key, but to exploit these fully requires a close working relationship with key customers, enabling suppliers to anticipate and satisfy frequently changing needs and requirements.

By introducing basic marketing techniques such as market research, market segmentation, competitor benchmarking and product positioning, you will:

  • better understand your competitive advantage and maintain it by tactical selection of new products and services
  • ‘get the message across' better with smarter content and targeting of your business communications
  • better identify new market opportunities

MAS West Midlands has developed this series of seminars to help local manufacturers develop their marketing skills. The seminars are delivered by an experienced marketing professional, and contain elements relevant to both domestic and international marketing. They are of a practical nature, best suited to those with senior, customer-facing roles, but assume limited prior knowledge, and contain many ideas readily adopted back at the workplace. Each delegate is issued with comprehensive reference notes.

Seminar attendance may be counted towards both internal-company and continuous personal development (CPD) programmes . At the conclusion of the programme certificates of attendance will be issued automatically to those delegates who attended a minimum of 3 seminars.

Although priority is given to small to medium size West Midlands-based manufacturers, larger organisations are not excluded.

Purchasing Workshops 2008/2009

For many West Midlands companies, expenditure on purchasing goods and services is a significant proportion of total business costs – often 60% or more. In view of this, an improvement in purchasing performance of only 5% can often deliver ‘bottom line’ improvements of 50%.......100% or more!

In its fifth successful year, to help businesses get the most from their purchasing function, the Manufacturing Advisory Service - West Midlands, in conjunction with Business Link Coventry & Warwickshire, has organised this series of interactive workshops for managers and other staff who have responsibility for purchasing but are not purchasing specialists.

Designed with small and medium-sized companies in mind, representatives from larger companies are also welcome to attend. Delivered by experienced practitioners, the workshops will introduce practical approaches to effective purchasing and outline how they can be put into practice to deliver tangible business benefits. Comprehensive reference notes will be issued to each workshop delegate.

EnterpriseConsulting present the workshops with industry experienced personnel on behalf of MAS-WM. Below is a list of workshop titles and dates, if you would like more information on the topic areas covered download the Purchasing Workshop PDF or contact Zoe Jones at EnterpriseConsulting 02920 444730

Demand for places will be high. Therefore, we strongly advise you to complete the fax back form as soon as possible if you wish to attend any of the workshops. There are still places available at all three locations.
